Crafty Swaps!

Hi! It has been a looong time since I have posted anything and I am going to try and get into the habit of blogging more often.

Today I thought I would start talking about some crafty swaps that I am involved in at the moment. I’m sure everyone loves receiving handmade items in the mail as much as I do. So that’s why I have recently signed up to participate in some swaps.

The swap that I am going to blog about today is the Dishcloth Swap that was hosted by One Crafty Mumma. I have crocheted ever since I was quite young. I remember going to my mum’s snack bar during the school holidays and while there learning lots of things from my aunty like doing crosswords, word puzzles, cross stitching and crocheting. I think that crocheting is something that you will always remember how to do, no matter how long it has been since you last crocheted. I have to remind myself every now and again how to do certain stitches, but always remember how to crochet a chain, single stitch and double stitch without any problem.

I had seen lots of tutorials for crocheted dishcloths and wondered how well they work as I am constantly trying different kinds of sponges to wash the dishes with. When I saw One Crafty Mumma post on Instagram that she was hosting a Dishcloth Swap, I knew this was the perfect opportunity for me to 1) try and make some and 2) see how well they work!

Here are the dishcloths that I made:

I used Lily Sugar n Cream yarn in different colours to make the dishcloths.

I used the Waffle Crochet Dishcloth pattern by Chip Flory for the top green dishcloth. The tutorial for the second tangerine one came from Issue 3 of the Simple Crochet magazine, it’s actually a pattern for a facecloth. The 3rd dishcloth was made using the Granny Square dishcloth pattern, and for the last dishcloth I used the Textured Crochet Dishcloth pattern by Petals to Picot.

One Crafty Mumma has been posting on her blog about all the dishcloths she has been receiving and they all look great! Here is her photo of them all before she sent them out!

I enjoyed making my four dishcloths and can’t wait to receive mine! If you are learning to crochet, dishcloths can be a great, easy item to practice with. And very practical, I love practical!
